Operation Prometheus

Good day gamers!
I know it’s been a month or so since my last update, but work gets kinda hectic around the holidays and with family wanting to visit, it meant less time for updates. As always, I’ve been doing a solid job in Discord, but since this site is more like my blog, I don’t update here unless it is substantial. Today is certainly a substantial event.

To be honest, I’ve been kinda burned out on YouTube and being a content creator lately. I go between having a few solid days, recording as much as I can, to being a husk on the couch. I’m not sure what happened or why I’ve been like this over the last few months, but it has been something that has bothered me. I don’t believe that there is any need for concern, but I have been doing this for 5 years and my muse is kinda fickle.

Why am I sharing this with you? Well, I always thought that this relationship should be clear and honest. I create media/videos/whatever that I hope you enjoy and, with that, I hope that you accept me through not only the good times but the rough ones as well. I use ads and Patreon to help with the finances and it’s with your ‘likes’ and ‘subscribes’ that help me continue my growth to eventually make these things I do a career. I’d much rather that my fans know me and know what I’m about instead of being all ‘Wizard of Oz’ with nothing but flash and powder to prove myself.

Throughout the last few months, YouTube hasn’t been the most concise or honest with itself or with those who contribute to it. In this case, contributors are both the content creators and the fans. Inconsistencies, breaches of policy and other actions (and lack of actions) have made it more apparent that YouTube would be an even more difficult road to follow than it was before. Simply stated, making a career of simply playing games doesn’t seem like it’s going to be acceptable. Still, with two releases per day and a streaming schedule, I’m doing the best I can, both on YouTube and Twitch.

Now that the bad has been shared, let’s get back to the title and share the good, Operation Prometheus (bonus points to you if you don’t have to look him up). I’ve always wanted to create things, even if they were crap. I find a certain amount of pride in making something that is yours instead of copying someone else’s work. I know the phrase ‘good artists copy and great artists steal’, but I’d submit that ‘perfect artists paint from themselves’. It’s with this thought in mind that is pushing me more to video game development.

Operation Prometheus is what I will be committing my efforts to, creating an indie game development company. This has given me the fire to continue and I hope I can show others how possible it is to accomplish something that may seem impossible. Currently, I’m looking for coders (C++/C#/Python/etc), artists and anyone who is familiar with this process. Even if you don’t know anyone who is familiar with this, or you’d just like to say hi and check in, let me know.

Stay tuned here and feel free to join me and the crew on Discord for gaming and info.
Happy gaming! – JMegs
