So, one of the most common questions that I’m asked is “how do you record/edit/render videos for YouTube”.

There are lots of open source video editing tools to get you started. The only way I was able to afford Sony Vegas was I got it on super sale (maybe a student discount too, I can’t recall). Either way, I hope this demonstrates that you don’t need a ton of money to get started with this hobby, as I even got the headset for $20 and Bandicam for $20 when it was released.
