This new tournament throws a wrench into everything we’ve played so far. Widders designed a custom map of their own and we will be playing their ‘Island Challenge’ map. The standard ‘best company value’ rules apply but there is something special about this one.
Here is the description of the tournament as stated by the mapmaker themselves:
“A map with larger islands but none of the matching resources on them so you have to boat/plane them around. I think you can restrict bridge lengths. There was a map like this in TTD with a big ring around a central island, too far away for a bridge so you had to boat or plane valuables from mines in the center to banks on the outside, the only problem was other industries would start spawning on the outside and it was better to just join them up instead.”
Here were the rules of the match:
– Max Loan: $500k USD
– Duration (Game): 1990-2010
– City Layout: 3×3 (Town restricted from building roads)
– Duration (IRL): 4 hours and 30 mins to 5 hours
– Tournament Duration: 3 Weeks (Feb 21st – Mar 13th) 2024
– NewGRF: Raised Landscape Costs
