Greetings Gamers,
One of my fans alerted me (of the Red variety) to an open source rebuild of some of the classic titles that we all know and love. Here, I’d like to introduce you to some of that games that really pulled me into the RTS (Real Time Strategy) genre. These games were all from the mind of the true king of RTS games, known as Westwood Studios.
I’d like to introduce, OpenRA.net. Here, you can download Dune 2000, and the original Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert games, all working and open source. I’ve even played several games over multiplayer and they work like a dream with Hamachi or Evolve. They have their own networking components as well, but since my pals already have Hamachi and/or Evolve installed, we found that it works amazingly.
So, what are you waiting for? Get to it, commander, and I hope to see you on the battlefield.
